Banks attends latest meeting of Coeliac APPG

In his role as Secretary of Westminster All Party Parliamentary Group on Coeliac Disease, local MP Gordon Banks led discussion amongst the food industry and health groups on ways to raise awareness of the illness.

 

The meeting heard presentations from Philippe Rossiter of the Institute of Hospitality and Martin Bates, Craft Guild of Chefs.

 

After the meeting, Mr Banks said –

 

“The role of this group is to spread awareness of Coeliac Disease and this remains an important task.”

 

“Many people across the UK are diagnosed with Coeliac Disease and numbers are rising in our area.”

 

“The APPG has been very successful in raising the profile of the illness with Government, food manufacturers and catering companies to improve the quantity and quality of gluten free food.”
