Local MP Gordon Banks has spoken out today at his disappointment that Perth & Kinross Council failed to take action to prevent the collapse of a bank of the River Almond in Huntingtowerfield which is threatening homes in the Perthshire village.
Gordon Banks raised the issue in a letter to Council Chief Executive Bernadette Malone in November 2010 and since that date the bank in question along the River Almond has collapsed threatening properties and destroying the riverside path.
Gordon Banks said – “The Council’s actions or lack of as is the case, is of significant concern. They couldn’t even respond to my letter let alone take remedial action to protect or reinforce the banking.”
“Whilst I made Perth & Kinross Council aware some two months ago it is a matter that they are conversant with due to ongoing issues regarding the river and the Lade. Residents in the area are now paying the price for their lack of action. I’ve contacted the Council again on this issue and hope they will treat this matter with a sense of urgency before more damage is done.”
