Gamu Nhengu and family granted right to appeal against deportation

Ochil & South Perthshire MP Gordon Banks has commented on news that lawyers for X factor contestant Gamu Nhengu say they have been granted right to appeal against a decision to force the family to leave the country.

Peter Farrell, the family solicitor, said the case would be heard by the Immigration Court in Glasgow on November 26th.

The UK Border Agency had previously insisted that Gamu, her mother and two brothers had no right to appeal against the decision.

Mr Banks said –

“I am glad that legal action on the family’s appeal has been successful.   As with all these cases there are many complexities which require scrutiny and evaluation and I’m hopeful that the hearing will be able to take into account all the facts of the matter.”

“I remain in contact with the family and continue to work in every way I can to support them.”
