Local MP Gordon Banks was in Alva last week meeting teachers and pupils who organised the school's St Andrew's Day celebrations and attending a special assembly.
Speaking after the event, Mr Banks said
"St Andrew's Day was an appropriate day for the school to recognise the achievements of many of its pupils."
"I have a huge personal connection to Alva Academy as both my children and wife attended the old school so I am pleased to see so many talented individuals being rewarded in such a way.
“The fact that the Fund Raising Committee were able to present a cheque to Macmillan Cancer Support was absolutely outstanding. Each year this school breaks record after record and this year has the honour of raising the most money from a school coffee morning for Macmillan any where in the country.”
“This is an outstanding achievement and everyone deserves our heartfelt thanks."
