Ochil & South Perthshire MP Gordon Banks has offered his support to constituents affected by the recent round of flooding which has affected communities across Perthshire.
Mr Banks said –
“Clearly questions need to be asked about the area’s preparedness to deal with the increased flood risk. In this current bout of flooding it was obvious that the melting snow coupled with likely rain would create problems and there has not been enough commitment to deal with this problem in the short term, let alone looking at these issues over the longer term.”
“However it is when the floodwater recedes that damage is assessed and my office remain available to assist any constituent in their dealings with the local authority, insurers etc.”
“Sadly we have a great deal of experience in supporting constituents in this position after recent flooding incidents in places such as Milnathort and Kinross and I know it can be a very worrying time for everyone involved. If my office can assist in any way then I would encourage constituents to get in touch.”
