MP welcomes revised GDP growth figures

Ochil & South Perthshire MP Gordon Banks has spoken out at encouraging news which saw UK growth figures revised upwards from 0.1% to 0.3%.

The revised UK GDP figures released on Friday showed that the economy grew by 0.3% in the last quarter of 2009, up from the initial estimate of 0.1% growth.

Commenting on the news, Mr Banks said – “These revised figures are extremely encouraging.”

“Whilst the growth is still quite modest and undoubtedly difficult times remain ahead, the economy is moving in the right direction.”

"The figures also re-affirm the need to continue supporting the economy.  Massively reducing public spending as the Tories propose would put this growth in real jeopardy.”
